GASTROENTEROLOGY & IBS
At Juno, gastroenterologist and hepatologist Dr Phoebe Thwaites provides specialist care for gut and liver conditions in a calm, unhurried setting in Richmond, Melbourne.
Dr Phoebe has a special interest in disorders of gut-brain interaction, including Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS). She combines private practice at Juno with a public appointment at The Alfred Hospital.
Areas of care include IBS and other disorders of gut-brain interaction, general gastrointestinal conditions such as bloating, abdominal pain and changes in bowel habit, liver disease, iron deficiency, and bowel cancer screening.
Dr Phoebe works collaboratively with your GP and the wider Juno team, including our dietitian, so your care feels considered, practical and joined-up.
Do I need a referral?
As a specialist, Dr Phoebe needs a referral from your GP for Medicare rebates to apply. If you don’t have a regular GP, you can see one of our Juno GPs first.
What to expect
At your first appointment, Dr Phoebe will take a detailed history, review any previous tests, and work with you on a plan that may include investigations, dietary approaches, medication or procedures where needed.
She aims to help you understand what is happening in your gut and to feel informed and involved in every decision about your care.
Dr Phoebe consults at Juno on Wednesdays.
