  • Breastfeeding Day Stay is overseen by founder Dr Nicole Gale - Breastfeeding Medicine Doctor and Lactation Consultant.

The space is facilitated by Amanda Down - a knowledgeable and empathetic care provider, experienced in breastfeeding and infant care support.

Breastfeeding Day Stay allows space for you to connect with other mothers who are learning too. The kinship and support of being with others navigating similar experiences is proven to be one of the most significant ways to increase breastfeeding success and boost general wellbeing.

Breastfeeding Day Stay exists to support maternal thriving. To this end, time at Breastfeeding Day Stay can involve holding space for conversations around education, skill sharing, emotional and peer support, the transition to motherhood, practicalities of infant and self care and so much more.

    Includes:

    • Help and support with feeding your baby (breast, bottle, pumping) (all families are welcome)

    • Company, caring and encouragement with care of your baby - to be met wherever you are during this transition

    • Gathering with other women/ families who are going through a similar transition, opportunity for connection and support

    • Rest and relax with services in your pod e.g. music, streaming service via personal iPad

    • Sleep or nap in your pod whilst we cuddle your baby

    • Sit outside next to the river or go for a walk along trail (individual or group)

    • Have appointments with other Juno practitioners (extra cost involved)

  • After attending Breastfeeding Day Stay you will own the power of sharpened practical skills, an expanded tool kit, and a new confidence and clarity to take forward.

Once you return home, lovely Amanda will touch base with you the next day to help support the transition, answer any questions you might have and ensure you are connected and supported beyond the service.

Our priority is to ensure our care doesn’t fall away when you leave our space but that you are held and linked in with kind carers (Juno or otherwise) as needed and are happy to facilitate this.

  • No referral is required to attend

We recommend if you are having breastfeeding issues, that you have an appointment with a Juno Specialist Lactation Consultant prior to attending Breastfeeding Day Stay.

An individualised breastfeeding plan is created that takes into account your story and any difficulties you’re experiencing, to implement on the day.

You are still welcome to attend without this.

  • Introductory offer $1850

Out of pocket if extended medicare safety net met: $462

    (Usual cost $2105)

    *increased rebates available for twins/HOM

  • EMSN reduces out-of-pocket cost for Breastfeeding Day Stay dramatically.

How it works: If you’ve spent a certain amount out-of-pocket in a calendar year on services that attract a Medicare rebate, you become eligible for a higher rebate from Medicare. This includes all family members on the same Medicare card. The higher rebate means you get back up to 80% of the total fee.

If you have engaged in IVF or paid for a private Obstetrician this calendar year, you will likely be eligible. More information on eligibility criteria for EMSN

  • 1. How do I book in?

We would love to have you in the space, connect and support you. We take bookings via our lovely reception team who can advise you via phone on 9910 4004 or via email at hello@junospecialists.au.

You can book in advance before your baby arrives, or when your baby has arrived earthside.

You do not need a referral from a doctor and can book in yourself individually.

    2. What are the costs to come?

As you will be provided with medical support by Dr Nicole Gale, you are eligible for a Medicare Rebate. If you have hit the Extended Medicare Safety Net, you would be eligible for up to 80% of the private fees rebated, significantly reducing your out of pocket costs. More information on the Extended Medicare Safety net can be found above.

If you are not an Australian citizen with access to Medicare rebates, you are most welcome but no rebate will be available.

    3. Can my partner stay with me?

Due to space restrictions, we kindly ask that partners assist with checking in and then continue on with their day. We have a co-working space in the building on the floor below Juno that can be accessed to allow partners to work on site for the day if desired. Partners are welcome to help with check-out 20 minutes prior to departure.

    4. Can you accommodate twins or multiple births?

All families are welcome and we would be delighted to support you with your babies. Dr Nicole is a mum of twins and she understands the challenges with accessing services for more than one baby.

For twins, please book as normal with our reception team. If you have triplets or higher order multiples, we would be happy to support you but ask you contact us directly so we can organise enough hands to allow you to have a proper rest on the day.

    5. What ages of babies do you accommodate?

We are currently offering the stay to families with babies aged 0-6 months. If you have a baby/babies from 6-9 months and would like to come, please contact us. We would like to offer this service for babies 6-9 months based on interest. We are unable to accommodate babies more than 9 months due to fit-out and safety restrictions.

    6. What happens on the day?

Our goal is for you to feel held and nourished from the moment you arrive until the moment you depart for home. We will meet you where you are and individualise your day depending on your needs and preferences.

This may involve time spent being supported with the care of your baby, with breastfeeding and infant feeding concerns or with Nicole, Amanda and other families, connecting and reflecting.

Alternatively if you need more rest, it may involve more downtime for you for napping and recuperation.

We are able to move amongst the Day Stay retreat, separate gathering room and the adjacent Birrarung river for fresh air and grounding as desired.

    8. Can I come from regional areas or interstate?

Definitely! It can be hard having services locally if you live regionally or remotely. We welcome everyone and would like to make things as smooth as possible.

If you would like to come stay for the day and require local accommodation options to minimise travel, let us know and we can assist with suggestions.

If you are interested multi-day stays, please contact us.

    9. How often can I come?

You are welcome to come once or more than once, as often as you like. We will start by running weekly and add availability if/when demand increases.

    10. What sort of food and drink do you offer? Can you accommodate dietary restrictions?

We offer gorgeous food made by New Bub Club, who make all food from scratch, use lovely seasonal ingredients and are prepared fresh.

We can accommodate dietary restrictions including dairy free, soy free, vegetarian, vegan, nut free and gluten free food. We will provide a menu to select from, on booking.
